Entry Requirement: Entry requirements for this qualification, is for learners to own or have read access to a computer and a willingness to learn and having ISLPR level 2+/3. EIE EAL placement test will be conducted to evaluate the level of English at entering into course

A participant’s current English language skills. (The listening and Speaking and Reading and Writing units in the Framework will provide the basis for initial assessment processes and placement of participants at the appropriate proficiency level)

A participant prior formal education experience, both overseas and in Australia. Year 11 or Year 12 equivalent to Australian qualification

Any prior EAL learning


Total Core Units: 8

Total Electives Units: 1

Mode of Delivery: Face-to-face 20 hours per week.

Total Course Duration: 34 Weeks including term breaks

               

Pathways for Students: 

The two levels in the EAL stream provide a clear pathway for a wide range of learners who want to develop English language and literacy skills and knowledge to gain entry and participate effectively in the Australian educational system.

Approximate ISLPR outcome for Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study) is 3+.


Credit Transfer:

Credit may be awarded on the basis of a combination of credit transfer plus an individual RPL assessment for additional learning.

For international students, any reduction in overall course duration brought about by RPL/Credit transfer is reported via PRISMS and an appropriate eCoE issued.

Course Assessment:

Assessments will be competency-based to meet the endorsed components of the 22258VIC Certificate IV in EAL (Further Study) and comply with the principles of validity, reliability, fairness and flexibility. The assessment process will include theory and practical Assessment Tasks
