Entry Requirement: To apply learner must be more than 18 years of age at the time of course commencement. Empire Institute of Education cannot support learner as required under Australian law if learner is younger than 18 at the time of course commencement.

Please Note: Overseas student Applicants for this course must have completed at least one year of a Bachelor or a Master degree where English is the medium of Instruction. If the Bachelor or Master degree is completed off shore and not completed with English as the medium of instruction, then candidates must have an IELTS 6.0 or equivalent to IELTS (no band less than 6).

Mode of Delivery: Face to Face 20 hours per week.

Total Course Duration: 23 Weeks including one-week term break and one exam week

Total Terms: 2 Terms. One term is equal to 10 weeks.

The Diploma of Interpreting is intended to prepare students to obtain the opportunity to choose a new career path or to expand a current path through national recognized qualification. This program also develops learns existing skills further or have existing skills recognized with NAATI.

To be awarded the Diploma of Interpreting, competency must be achieved in 12 units of competency consisting of 7 core units and 5 electives.

Credit Transfer:

Credit may be awarded on the basis of a combination of credit transfer plus an individual RPL assessment for additional learning.

National recognition credit is automatically granted for identical (code and Title) AQF units of competency irrespective of the qualification in which they were achieved. Training coordinator will go through with all student enrolment forms, statement of attainment and identify if student already completed any unit(s) from other provider and give credit transfer to that particular unit(s).

If the credit transfer granted RTO/Training manager notify the student support manager so she will update the change of the course duration for individual student.

For international students any reduction in overall course duration brought about by RPL/Credit transfer is reported via PRISMS and an appropriate eCoE issued.

Assessment information

Trainer/Assessor will use the correct assessment tools to gather sufficient and quality evidence about the student performance in order to make the assessment decision based on the qualification delivery and assessment strategy. Empire Institute of Education equipment and learning resources required supporting the evidence gathering process, for Advanced Diploma of Translating (Chinese) qualification following assessment tools would be used to assess student:

-       Case Study,

-       Written Reports

-       Role Play

-       Written question and

-       Presentation (observation)

-       Group Project

-       Two Exams.
